THE SUIT Curaçao welcomes Chris Richards

Growing up in Curaçao, I had a passion for everything related to the underwater world from a very young age. I guess, looking back now, it was only a matter of time until scuba diving became a career.
A couple of years ago I became a left-above the knee amputee which put a stop to many things I actively did in the past. But, over the last two weeks, I have been following The Suit Curaçao (via the website and social channels) closely, daydreaming about how I would have definitely joined the snorkel from East to West to help create awareness about the preservation of our underwater "backyard".
During a conversation with the initiator of this extraordinary effort, Curd Evertsz, he suggested to add an “extra inning” to The Suit Curaçao. This offer inspired me to join the effort, to snorkel from Playa Forti to Playa Kalki in Westpunt, with one fin.
Accompanied by a team of surface and in-water support including my wingman, Lex Kleine, we completed the snorkel yesterday afternoon on September 14th, 2019.
Upon arrival at Playa Kalki, I was so pumped that I wished it was not over yet. We all protect what we love... the more we know about our underwater backyard, the more we will love and protect it.
Thanks to Curd and the whole "SUIT" team for showing me that my disability is just a speed bump, not a road block!
